What to do when friends or family leave the Church...

Tell them they are wrong.

Argue with them.

Shun them.

Avoid them.

Don't let my kids play with theirs.

Belittle them.

Turn them into a project.

Love them.

  1. I seriously can't imagine people choosing any of the other paths of action. "Love them" is definitely the answer. And they should do the same with their family and friends who choose to remain in their faith. These are the days when we are all tested by these and other circumstances and we will really find out what we are all made of. All can seek joy and fulfillment in their lives. We should grant each other the freedom to exercise their God-given free agency. Hearts may be broken on all sides but it doesn't give anyone the right to divide themselves from the other. We can choose to divide ourselves but it isn't a justification for poor behavior. Love IS the only way.

  2. I was expecting a long blog explaining how painful and agonizing it can be when someone we love leaves the church and how we should react to them and their negativity and so on and so forth. However, this perfectly says it all in the simplest way. Thank you.

  3. They are not in this world to live up to your expectation. Just accept them without judging.
